It is the eleventh film in the Star Trek film franchise, and is also a reboot that features the main characters of the original Star Trek television series portrayed by a new cast, as the first in the rebooted film series. Directed by J.J. Abrams. With Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Leonard Nimoy. The brash James T. Kirk tries to live up to his father's legacy with Mr. Spock keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time.
Nero (Played by Eric Bana) As the civilian Romulan captain of the late 24th century mining vessel Narada, Nero became enraged when his family and homeworld were destoyed by an adjacent supernova in 2387.
Nero was the captain of the Romulan mining vessel Narada until its disappearance in 2387. In 2387, the Narada was the first ship to discover the threat posed by the Hobus star. Working with Federation Ambassador Spock, Nero attempted to convince the Romulan Senate to destroy the star using red matter but they were unsuccessful. If you have the Blu-Ray or deluxe DVD of Star Trek (2009), you no doubt have watched the deleted scenes of Nero and crew getting captured by Klingons and sent to Rura Penthe, the Klingon prison planetoid seen in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
In this alternate reality, Nero was responsible for the destruction of Vulcan and many Starfleet vessels. He attempted to destroy Earth but was stopped by James T. Kirk when the USS Enterprise destroyed the Narada. External links Edit. Nero article at Memory Alpha, the canon Star Trek wiki. Nero article at Memory Beta, the non-canon Star Trek wiki.
Star Trek (2009) Eric Bana as Nero. James T. Kirk : Your ship is compromised, too close to the singularity to survive without assistance, which we are willing to provide. The Centaurian slug used by Nero on Captain Pike was an homage by the screenwriters to the Ceti eels used by Khan in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. A deleted scene from the film reveals that Nero obtained them from the Klingons who held him and his crew on Rura Penthe for 25 years (as seen in "Second Chance" ).
